Theatre Arts

The Tipton-Rosemark Academy Theatre Department encourages every student in our program to fully develop his or her talents to glorify God and to strive for excellence through the performing arts. Our Fine Arts Program offers theatrical opportunities for all students in kindergarten through twelfth grade.

High School

Students at the high school level can participate in high school plays and musical productions. The Tipton-Rosemark Academy high school theatre program provides students who are interested in music and/or acting a thriving Christian environment in which to develop and share their God-given talents.

The students have an opportunity to participate and/or perform in the fall play or spring musical productions. They also have an opportunity to perform dramatic skits in chapel services throughout the year.

The fall production is a classical or modern play or musical selection. Past fall plays include: Cheaper by the Dozen (2007), Agatha Christie's And Then There Were None (2008), Bermuda Triangle Getaway (2009), Around the World in 80 Days (2011), Rehearsal for Murder (2012), Arsenic and Old Lace (2013), The Rules of Comedy (2014), and Almost, Maine (Winter 2015), Tune Into Murder (2016).

The spring semester production is a musical that involves all areas of the Fine Arts Department: Drama, Visual Arts and Choir. Some past musicals include: Bye Bye Birdie (2008), Grease - The School Version (2009), The Sound of Music (2010), Little Women (Fall 2010), Cinderella Enchanted (2011), Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (2012), South Pacific (2013), Fiddler on the Roof (2014), and An Evening with the Characters of Pride and Prejudice (2015), Oklahoma (2016).

Middle School

Students at the middle school level will participate in a trimester-long Drama Class during their sixth grade year, which culminates with a selection of skits performed during Upper School chapel.

The curriculum includes units on Ensemble Building, Audience Responsibility, Storytelling, Stage Geography and Key Terms, Non-Verbal Communication, Vocal Development, Improvisation, Creating Character, Directing, Technical Theatre, Evaluating Theatre, and Presentational Theatre. Students also watch shorts clips from more than 40 different musicals and plays in an effort to build a lifelong appreciation of theatre.

They may also participate in the middle school play (even years) or musical (odd years). Previous middle school productions include Disney's The Little Mermaid Jr. (2013-14), Ms. Scrooge (2014-15), A Christmas Carol (2014-15), and The Lion King Jr. (2015-16). Our upcoming play for 2016-17 is ELF.

They may also participate in the high school fall play and spring musical productions (according to cast needs).
