Tipton-Rosemark Academy

Bound for College.  Prepared for Life.

Co-Curricular

Tipton Rosemark Academy offers students opportunities through co-curricular activities such as a Spelling Bee (4th-8th grades), Yearbook Staff, St. Jude Math-a-thon, Science Fair, Field Day, Red Ribbon Week, and Read Across America.  Students and parents are encouraged to participate throughout the school year in many different school events, such as the annual fall carnival.

TRA also provides students the opportunity to participate in several service projects each year.  These include giving of their time, talents, and treasures to the yearly selected School-Wide Charity, which changes from year to year. They also serve through a Thanksgiving Food Drive for needy families, Ronald McDonald can tab collection, Christmas charity gifting, Operation Christmas Child, and Christmas cards for the overseas armed forces.

In addition, Tipton Rosemark Academy encourages student participation in various contests such as the Briarcrest Regional Art Contest, Woodsy Owl Poster Contest, TMTA Math Competition, University of Memphis Emgineering Day Competition, School-Wide Talent Show, Mid-South Fair Preliminary Talent Contest (7th-12th), All-West Honor Choir Competition, Solo/Ensemble Festival Competition, All-State Honor Choir Competition, Treble Honor Choir Competition (5th-6th), and Governor's School for the Fine Arts Summer Academy (chosen by audition only).

Heart and Soul and Digital Citizenship

We are so excited to have our Heart and Soul program in the elementary through high school grades. Our students are learning exactly what bullying is and how to stand up against it. One of the benefits of this program is the family like atmosphere that it is helping to foster. We are thrilled with the results that we are seeing from Heart and Soul.  Check out the Action News 5 Story on our Heart and Soul Anti-Bullying program! Or check out CNN.comwhere TRA then-8th grade student, Alexa Crum, submitted an iMovie about school bullying. Alexa's video was chosen for their discussion page. TRA is very proud of Alexa and our students for standing up to bullying.

Beginning with the 2014-15 school year, TRA added Digital Citizenship to the Heart and Soul Program. During this time students learn to use the internet, social media, and technology appropriately.

Academic Clubs

TRA has nationally recognized associations for student membership.  The Junior National Beta Club  (6th-8th) and Varsity National Beta Clubs (9th-12th) are leadership and service organizations with academic and conduct prerequisites.  The National Honor Society is open to sophomores, juniors, and seniors meeting criteria for service, leadership, character, and achievement.  Mu Alpha Theta is a national math honor society with membership limited to those qualifying at the sophomore, junior, and senior levels.

Student Clubs

Clubs for students in grades nine through twelve are Science, Art, Ecology, Spanish, Student Council, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Other clubs may be developed as interest dictates.  Students in grades six through eight may join the Middle School Student Council. Other clubs are developed as interest dictates.  Lower school students participate in Boy Scouts, newspaper, private piano lessons, private art lessons, and Duke University T.I.P.

Annual Washington D.C. 8th Grade Trip

For over 20 years, TRA has taken members of the 8th grade class to Washington, DC and the surrounding historical areas. The students spend five days touring the city and visiting sites such as Arlington National Cemetery, the Lincoln Memorial, the Holocaust Museum, Ford's Theatre, Mount Vernon, the Museum of National Archives, and the Capitol. It is not a mandatory trip, but usually more than 80% of the class participates and parents are welcomed as well. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity that we offer to our students.
